A 12" tanto carved from a solid piece of vintage Cuban mahogany, with an aesthetic faux pin hand-tooled from black walnut. After a final sanding with 220 grit paper, we have coated this with shellac that will not change color over time. Banned from importation since 1946, Cuban mahogany is rare as it was over-harvested to near extinction. It has moderate weight and density, with lovely brown tones. The piece we have to work with was salvaged from an old cabinet factory.
